Daily Update 4-29-18

Ozzie Albies homered again today and if that wasn’t enough added a steal of home as well. That makes nine home runs which is halfway to what some would have considered an aggressive total in the pre-season. Jose Altuve and Jose Ramirez are still 1-2, but slotting Albies in ahead of Dozier in the third slot isn’t crazy anymore. Even if his pace regresses to the norm 20 homers is more than reasonable now to go with the solid run scoring, speed and batting average.

Teoscar Hernandez homered again today for the Blue Jays and has to be a must start as long as he stays hot, He could keep it up all year so watch accordingly and enjoy.

Jose Berrios faltered versus the Reds today only going three innings and allowing four earned runs with zero strikeouts. This appears to be a blip, but should temper expectations for those that were vaulting him into the top 15-20 starters.

Greg Holland allowed another earned run in a non-save situation making six earned runs allowed in eight and a third innings. Not sure if this is solely from signing late or if this is from his usage last year but it’s leaning more and more away from Holland and to Bud Norris for saves in St. Louis for the foreseeable future. Time may be coming to cut bait and move on.

Robbie Ray left in the second inning after only twenty-one pitches with an oblique strain. Wil Myers had a similar strain yesterday and is already DL bound so there is a strong chance Ray joins him tomorrow. Myers is less of a blow as the Padres can play Jose Pirela, Manny Margot and Franchy Cordero everyday now. Cordero like Hernandez may be putting himself on the radar for shallow and mixed leagues alike. If you have a roster spot, now would be the time to take a chance.
